Italy’s Federica Pellegrini is headed to Budapest to join her Aqua Centurions teammates in the International Swimming League bubble after receiving a negative COVID-19 test last week on October 29.

Pellegrini’s route to the ISL had been delayed due to a positive COVID test she had last month.

A test subsequently showed she had the coronavirus which means she will not travel to the Hungarian capital to join up with the Aqua Centurions. But with a negative test and improving health, Federica Pellegrini will be able to join for their last match.

To enter Hungary via ISL rules, international swimmers must present: evidence of negative tests before arriving (two negatives no more than five days old and at least 48 hours apart); or enter Hungary with one test less than three days old and be subject to supplemental screening; or swimmers can be exempt with evidence of a COVID-19 positive test within six months or positive serological test for antibodies (i.e. evidence of a past bout with the virus and some acquired immunity).

The Centurions next match will be November 9 – 10 with the London Roar, Cali Condors and LA Current as the Italian-based team is currently in last place in the team standings and will need a lot of help to advance to the semi finals.

Last season, Federica Pellegrini was ranked sixth in the ISL in the 200 & 400 freestyle and should be a big boost to the Centurions’ relays as the 4×100 free relay is ranked ninth and the medley relay is tenth.
