Fairport Area Swim Team’s Ella Guilfoil Chooses New Hampshire
NEW COMMIT: Futures qualifier Ella Guilfoil of Fairport, New York, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of New Hampshire and will arrive in Durham in the fall of 2022.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m so happy to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of New Hampshire! It’s been my dream to swim D1 in college all my life and I’m so excited to be able to in this next chapter. Thank you for the support from my family, friends and coaches. GO WILDCATS!”
Guilfoil does her club swimming with Fairport Area Swim Team and earned five best times at the ISCA Summer Senior Blast in July where she finished 20th in the 200m back. She had a great showing at Christiansburg Sectionals back in March, racing to eighth in both the 200 back and 200 IM as well as ninth in the 100 back.
Her best times include:
- 200 IM (2:06.69)
- 100 Back (58.53)
- 200 Back (2:04.03)
- 200 Free (1:54.48)
- 500 Free (5:05.94)
Also competing for Fairport High School, Guilfoil placed 11th in the 200 IM and 17th in the 100 free as a sophomore while taking 20th in the 200 free during her freshman season at the New York Federation Championships.
Guilfoil’s versatility will make an immediate impact to the Wildcat’s program, with her best times placing her in scoring position in multiple events from the recent 2021 America East Championship. The Wildcats are the defending conference champions under head coach Josh Willman.
