BOLZANO, Italy, October 17. Earlier this month, the Bolzano International Swim Meet announced that superstar Ryan Lochte would appear at its fun-filled event Nov. 8-9. Today, the meet announced that short course world champion Fabio Scozzoli would return for his fifth appearance in Bolzano following from a year off caused by an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Scozzoli has competed this year, with swims at the Singapore All-Star meet earlier this summer.
Scozzoli went through knee surgery back in September of 2013, following the World Championship in Barcelona, and will now be making his fifth appearance at the Bolzano meet following successful rehab of his injury. Scozzoli has won seven different races in four appearance in Bolzano, and will be looking for more of the same this year.
“Scozzoli can simply not be missed at our meeting,” says OC President Christian Mattivi welcoming the breaststroker after two years.
Scozzoli isn’t the only big-time name to be announced today. Alongside Lochte and Scozzoli, Olympians Arkady Vyatchanin and Amanda Weir have also been confirmed to compete this year.
