NEW COMMIT: NC State University has added a new verbal commitment for their impressive Class of 2026 from Tamryn van Selm of Orpington, England.

She will join Casaundra Moses, Aubree Brouwer, Meghan Donald, Grace MonahanKennedy NobleEmma Hastings and Katherine Helms in Raleigh at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited and thankful to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at NC State University!! Can’t wait to be part of the Wolfpack!?❤️#gopack”

A talented freestyler and backstroker, van Selm trains year-round with Bromley Swim Club and attends the Millfield School. She most recently competed at the British Swimming Selection Trials where she earned two best times and finaled in the 100m/200m/400m free. In December 2019, she won 200m free at the Ontario Junior International meet.

While representing her home country, van Selm finished eighth in the 100m free and advanced to the semifinals of the 200m free at the LEN European Junior Championships in July 2019. She earned silver as a member of the 4x200m free relay and earned four medals at the European Youth Olympic Festival earlier that summer.

In SCM/LCM, her best times include:

  • 50m free – 25.95/26.00
  • 100m free – 54.74/55.61
  • 200m free – 1:57.77/1:59.89
  • 400m free – 4:12.14/4:16.17
  • 100m back – 1:01.44/1:03.67
  • 200m back – 2:13.04/2:17.81

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 50 free – 22.78
  • 100 free – 48.61
  • 200 free – 1:45.18
  • 500 free – 4:46.01
  • 100 back – 55.27
  • 200 back – 1:59.74

van Selm was also named to the 53-person British Swimming World Class Programme for the 2020-21 season back in October.

van Selm is a major pickup for the Wolfpack. With her best times converted to yards, she would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 free and 500 free at the 2021 ACC Championships where NC State was the team runner-up.
