Erini Pappas Sends Verbal to Fairfield with Best Times Faster Than School Records
NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Erini Pappas of Phoenixville, Pa. has handed Fairfield University their first verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Fairfield University! Thank you to my family, friends, coaches and teachers for their endless support and guidance in and out of the water. I can’t wait to be a part of such an incredible team! GO STAGS!”
A versatile swimmer, Pappas does her club swimming with Upper Main Line YMCA and won the 200 fly and 400 IM at the YMCA East District Championships in March. She finaled in the 200 fly at YMCA SCY Nationals in 2019 and finished 11th in that event at the LCM meet last summer.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 55.80
- 200 back – 2:01.87
- 100 fly – 55.71
- 200 fly – 2:03.95
- 200 IM – 2:06.81
- 400 IM – 4:24.34
Also competing for Phoenixville Area High School, Pappas is a six-time Pennsylvania 3A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed eighth in the 100 back and ninth in the 100 fly as a junior while taking seventh in the 100 fly and 12th in the 200 IM during her sophomore season.
Pappas is a huge get for the Stags as her best times are already faster than the school records in the 200 back and 400 IM. She would’ve won the 400 IM at the 2020 MAAC Championships and scored in the A-final of the 100 fly, 200 fly 100 back, 200 back, and 200 IM.
