NEW COMMIT: The University of Arkansas has reeled in another verbal commitment, this one from in-state swimmer Erin McGuirt. She’ll join North Carolinian Svea Torres in the Class of 2022.

McGuirt is a senior at Searcy High School where she is a swim team captain. A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, McGuirt does her club swimming with Shark ATAC where she is a fairly versatile swimmer. McGuirt is a strong IMer but also excels in fly and free. Her best SCY times include:

  • 100 Fly 55.05
  • 50 Fly 25.51
  • 200 IM 2:05.36
  • 400 IM 4:25.86
  • 100 Free 51.49

McGuirt swam well at a number of meets last spring, posting her lifetime best in the 100 fly at High School states in late February, followed by a 100 free best time at club states in early March, and continued on to post a best in the 200 IM at NCSA Junior Nationals later that month. At that High School state championship McGuirt finished as runner up in the 100 fly.

At last year’s SEC Championships Olivia Weekley was the Razorbacks’ top 100 flyer. She will graduate this spring. Dalton Chambliss (55.38) will be the top remaining butterflier still on the roster for McGuirt’s arrival. The two will have two years to train together.

She shared,

“So excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at the University Of Arkansas!! I can’t wait to spend the next 4 years with this awesome team and coaches. Thank you to my coach, team, family, and friends who have supported me and helped me get to where I am today! WPS!”
