Elizabeth Fry Brings Versatility to Notre Dame With Verbal
NEW COMMIT: Notre Dame has received a verbal commitment from versatile Elizabeth Fry who will join the Fighting Irish as a member of the class of 2023.
A native of Towson, Md., Fry swims year-round with Eagle Swim Team and has a trio of Junior National cuts with a U.S. Open qualifying time in the 100 breast. She concluded a successful long course season with five lifetime bests and a bronze medal in the 50m breast at NCSAs. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also had three second swims at NCSAs in March after posting eight top-8 finishes at the Maryland Senior SCY Championships.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“It is with great excitement that I announce my verbal commitment to the University of Notre Dame. It is an honor and privilege to get this opportunity to further my education and athletic career at such an esteemed university. I cannot wait for the next four years with such an amazing team and coaching staff. Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends who have supported me throughout this process. I am proud to be a member of the Irish family!”
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 29.14
- 100 breast – 1:01.96
- 200 breast – 2:16.58
- 200 IM – 2:02.68
- 50 free – 23.47
- 100 free – 50.76
- 200 free – 1:52.88
- 100 fly – 54.91
Fry’s versatility will bode extremely well for the Irish when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season and could find herself swimming numerous events. Her best 100 breast time would’ve ranked third on their lineup last season and would’ve scored in the C-final at the 2018 ACC Championships.
Her club coach, Scott Ward, told Swimming World:
“Elizabeth is an outstanding young lady whom we know will excel at the next level.”
