Elizabeth Beisel Tops 200 Back Prelims at Tennessee Aquatics Invite
Top swimmers appeared to cruise through their prelims swims again this morning, at the third day of the 2016 Tennessee Aquatics June Invite.
Elizabeth Beisel was ahead of the field in the 200 backstroke, touching in 2:13.50. Micah Bohon finished second in 2:15.13 and Sydney Sell qualified third in 2:16.85.
Rolan Schoeman swam a top seeded 22.99 in this morning’s 50 freestyle. Zach Apple and Michael Duderstadt tied for second seed in 23.28. Caeleb Dressel tied with Andrew Marsh in 23.33 for the fourth seed.
Harvard’s Sonia Wang narrowly claimed the top seed for tonight’s 220 butterfly. She touched in 2:16.55, just ahead of Heather Lundstrom in 2:16.71. Michelle Cefal qualified third in 2:17.38.
Fresh off his 400 IM win last night, Sebastien Rousseau stopped the clock in 2:01.87 to lead this morning’s 200 butterfly. James Bretscher followed in 2:02.49 and Aaron Schultz was third with a 2:03.33.
Kaitlyn Johnson was first to the wall in this morning’s splash and dash. The 26 year old was the only swimmer to clear the 26 second barrier, touching in 25.94. Alia Atkinson finished second in 26.12 and Amanda Kendall was third with a 26.13.
Sean Lehane was well ahead of this morning’s 200 backstrokers, stopping the clock in 2:00.22. Christopher Reid finished second in 2:02.96 and Wade O’Brien grabbed the third seed with a 2:05.47.
With Beisel’s scratch, Emma Barksdale took the top seed in the 200 IM in 2:19.85. Wang finished second in 2:20.48 and Kersten Dirrane earned the third seed in 2:21.46.
Jack Smith was first to the wall for the men in 2:05.55. Aaron Schultz finished second in 2:06.69 while Nate Carr was the third qualifier with a 2:06.91.
