Eastern Michigan Adds Commitment from Canada’s Avery Willis for 2021

NEW COMMIT: Eastern Michigan University has received a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Avery Willis of Waterloo, Ontario.
She will join Ashley George, Abby Szadorski, and Emily Brown as a member of the Eagles’ class of 2025.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Eastern Michigan University. So thankful for all the friends, family, and coaches who have cheered me on along the way. I can hardly wait to get in the pool with such an amazing team! Go Eagles!!”
Willis, who trains with Club Warriors, last competed at the Winter Ontario Youth Junior Championships in March where she placed third in the 200m fly and sixth in the 200m IM. Last December, she finished 18th in both IM events at the Ontario Junior International meet and raced three events at the Canadian Swimming Trials in April 2019.
In LCM, her best times include:
- 200m IM – 2:23.71
- 400m IM – 5:03.96
- 100m fly – 1:03.90
- 200m fly – 2:17.15
- 200m back – 2:27.99
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 200 IM – 2:06.03
- 400 IM – 4:26.26
- 100 fly – 56.67
- 200 fly – 2:02.02
- 200 back – 2:09.78
Under head coach Derek Perkins, EMU finished third overall in the team standings at the 2020 MAC Championships.
