East Carolina Pirates Seize Verbal From NCAP’s Jordan Wenner
NEW COMMIT: East Carolina University has picked up a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2019 from Ashburn, Va. native Jordan Wenner.
Wenner swims year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and recorded a pair of best times with a 17th-place finish in the 50m free at Potomac Valley Seniors this summer. She competed in four events at NCSAs in March and notched a lifetime best in the 200 free at Potomac Valley Seniors last winter. Also competing for Briar Woods High School, Wenner is a four-time Virginia 5A State Championship finalist. She placed fifth in the 100 free and sixth in the 50 free as a junior after placing third and seventh, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at ECU! Once I visited the campus and got to know the team, I knew that this was the school for me. I want to thank my coaches, friends, and family that helped me get to where I am today. I can’t wait to be a pirate!”
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.74
- 100 free – 52.23
- 200 breast – 2:27.34
- 100 fly – 57.72
When she suits up for the Pirates as a member of the class of 2023, Wenner will add her talents to a sprint group that is led by Catherine Johnson. Although she sits just outside of scoring range at the American Conference Championships, she has continuously made improvements each season.
