ALPHARETTA, Georgia, October 13. Dynamo’s Patrick Cusick, the fifth-ranked swimmer in the State of Georgia by CollegeSwimming.com, is headed to the University of North Carolina after making his collegiate decision last night.
Cusick is a backstroker who trains at the always deep Dynamo Swim Club and preps at Alpharetta High in Georgia.
Cusick had a breakout meet at the NCSA spring junior championships this March, broadcast live on SwimmingWorld.TV. He posted a pair of lifetime bests in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events. He put up a 49.10 in the 100-yard event, while also clocking a speedy 1:46.80 in the 200-yard competition. He also had a strong 50-yard back time of 23.14 that should help out UNC in the sprint medley relays.
Cusick also has some versatility with a 1:51.36 in the 200-yard IM and a 3:57.67 in the 400-yard IM.
Cusick owns a 57.80 in the 100-meter back and a 2:06.97 in the 200-meter backstroke, but should see those times improve during the next long course season.
