Duke Starts 2026 Recruiting With Verbal From Sprinter Riley Anderson

NEW COMMIT: Duke University has kicked off its Class of 2026 recruiting with a bang, landing a verbal pledge from U.S. Open qualifier Riley Anderson of Colchester, Connecticut. She’s a talented sprinter and among the top recruits in her class.

Anderson will arrive in Durham as a member of the Blue Devils’ Class of 2030.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Duke University! I want to thank my family, my coaches Rob, Matt, and Kelly, and my friends for all of their support! I especially want to thank Coach Brian and the Duke coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity! Go Blue Devils!!”

Anderson does her club swimming with West Hartford Aquatic Team and capped off her summer season with five best times at the ISCA Senior Blast where she won the 50m/100m free, 50m/100m fly and 100m back.

Back in March, Anderson won the 50 free and earned silver at Providence Sectionals. She also took fourth in the 100 fly and ninth in the 100 back.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.49
  • 100 free – 49.12
  • 100 fly – 54.68
  • 100 back – 55.18

Currently a junior at Manchester High School, Anderson swept the 50 free and 100 free at the 2023 Connecticut CIAC Open State Championships as a sophomore. She won the 50 free and took seventh in the 100 fly at the state meet during her freshman season.

Even with two years of club swimming still to go, Anderson would’ve ranked second on Duke’s lineup last year in the 50 free and third in the 100 free.
