Duke Receives Verbal Commitments From Everett Werner and Brynne O’Shea
NEW COMMITS: Duke University has received two more verbal commitments. Everett Werner and Brynne O’Shea have both given their verbal commitments to the Blue Devils. Both will head to North Carolina from the Pacific Northwest. Werner joins a men’s class that now includes Cole Reznick, Colson Zucker and Henry Wu. O’Shea’s commitment brings the women’s class to five including Shae Nicolaisen, Melissa Pish, Rachel Peroni, and Easop Lee.
Everett Werner
Werner lives in Olympia, Washington where he swims for Evergreen Swim Club. He’s a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
Werner is a butterflier and IMer. His top SCY times are:
- 200 Fly 1:48.94
- 100 Fly 50.43
- 400 IM 3:57.13
- 200 IM 1:52.08
- 200 Back 1:51.54
He wrote,
“Between the incredible academics, athletics, location, and team Duke is the perfect school for me. Go Blue Devils!”
Duke’s only underclass butterflier last year was Yusuke Legard. He’ll be a senior next year. The IM group will still include Roger Kriegl, Judson Howard, and Maximilian St. George.
Brynne O’Shea
O’Shea will move to Durham from Portland, Oregon. She is a senior at Lakeridge High School and swims for Multnomah Athletic Club.
A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, O’Shea is primarily a backstroker. Her top times include:
- 200 Back 1:56.88
- 100 Back 56.00
- 50 Back 27.21
Next fall the Blue Devil backstroke group with still include Madeline Hess and Mickayla Hinkle.
