Duke Blue Devils Get Big 2021 Verbal from Sprinter KyAnh Truong
NEW COMMIT: Austin, Texas native KyAnh Truong has given Duke University a big verbal commitment and will arrive in Durham at the start of the 2021-22 season.
She will join McKenna Smith as a member of the Blue Devils’ class of 2025.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Duke University! I’m eternally grateful for everyone who has helped me get to this point. Go blue devils!??”
Truong does her club swimming with Western Hills Athletic Club and owns three National standards. She finished eighth in the 50 free at Juniors West in 2018 and most recently won the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly at the STAGS Championships in March. Last summer, she raced three events at Junior Nationals.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 22.69
- 100 free – 50.26
- 100 back – 57.51
- 100 fly – 53.72
Also competing for Westwood High School, Truong is a five-time Texas 6A State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American was the 50 free runner-up and took eighth in the 100 free as a junior while taking third and 10th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
Truong will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she suits up for Duke next year. She’ll add her talents to a training group that’ll be led by Catherine Belyakov, Sarah Snyder, and Shayna Hollander.
