While Carmel Swim Club may have finished second by a mere .07 in tonight’s boy’s 800 freestyle relay, lead off swimmer Drew Kibler still clocked a National Age Group record. The 16 year old posted a lifetime best time by two seconds and took a second off of Maxime Rooney‘s 200 freestyle national mark in the 15-16 year old age group.

Kibler stopped the clock in 1:33.36 tonight. His previous lifetime best was a 1:35.33.

Kibler’s splits:

21.51/ 45.11 (23.53)/ 1:09.28 (24.17)/ 1:33.36 (24.08)

Rooney swam a 1:34.57 in 2014.

Kibler also appears on the USA Swimming Junior Nationals-East psych sheet in the 500 freestyle (4:23.82, fifth), 50 freestyle (19.98, first), 200 freestyle (first), 100 backstroke (49.73, 16th), and 100 freestyle (43.69, first), giving him plenty more opportunities to swim fast, and lower his own record, this weekend.
