Diver Brandon Loschiavo Added to Paris Olympics on Eve of Games
Brandon Loschiavo has been added to Team USA’s roster for diving just a day before the Paris Olympics start.
Loschiavo got the word Thursday that the U.S. would get an additional quota spot for men’s 10-meter after a last-minute withdrawal. Loschiavo finished second at Olympic Trials in June, with the Americans chasing one quota spot, which went to Carson Tyler.
Loschiavo posted about the news Friday.
He wrote, in part:
“The truth is… it’s not the pursuit of happiness it’s the happiness pursuit.
“Goals, medals, teams come and go, but the pursuit of greatness will be with you forever. Having the privilege to go out and fight for something you love is the true gold.
“Here’s to the ones who dream”
Loschiavo competed at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, finishing in 11th place in the men’s 10-meter platform. He was eighth at the World Championships in 2024 in Doha, which secured the United States the quota spot that Tyler then filled.
Loschiavo is one of the maximum 136 divers to compete in Paris at the Paris Aquatics Centre. Preliminaries of his event take place on Aug. 9 with the final on Aug. 10, at the end of the diving program that begins on Saturday.
Loschiavo, 27, is a native of Huntington Beach, Calif. The Purdue graduate is an NCAA champion on platform, a three-time Big Ten champion and a seven-time national champion.
