NEW COMMIT: Daniel Blake has given his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Kentucky beginning next fall. Blake is from Campbell, California. He’s a senior at Westmont High School and swims for Santa Clara Swim Club.
His best times include:
- 200 free- 1:41.10
- 500 free- 4:30.41
- 1650 free- 15:46.61
- 200 fly- 1:52.08
Blake excels most at freestyle, getting better with distance. At last year’s CIF Central Coast Section meet Blake finished third in the 500 free and touched ninth in the 200 free. At Futures this summer Blake went on to earn a runner up finish in the 1500 freestyle, a new Summer Juniors cut (15:55.11).
He said of his decision to head East next year,
“I am really excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Kentucky. I feel that this is a great opportunity to continue my academic and swimming career, with this great team. Go Wildcats!!!”
He joins Santa Clara Swim Club teammates Sophia Harrison, Daria Cocol, Cathy Teng, and David Noyes in making commitments to continue their swimming careers in college.
