DII National 400 IM Runner-Up Landon Driggers Transfers to Tennessee
NEW COMMIT: After taking a gap year during the 2021-22 season, former UIndy standout Landon Driggers of Gilbert, Arizona, will take his talents to Tennessee this fall.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“So excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee! It has been a journey getting here, so I want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way, especially this past year. My family, coaches, friends, teammates; this is a group victory. Special thanks to the University of Tennessee coaching staff for this opportunity! Can’t wait for this next chapter of life with such a great program!”
An Olympic Trials qualifier, Driggers placed 18th in the 200m back at the recent International Team Trials last month after sweeping both IM events at Austin Sectionals. He raced to sixth in the 200m back at Wave I of Olympic Trials last summer, too.
While at UIndy where he he competed during his freshman season, he was the NCAA DII runner-up in the 400 IM and took fourth in the 200 back in 2021.
His best times include:
- 100 back – 49.60
- 200 back – 1:44.57
- 200 IM – 1:47.56
- 400 IM – 3:47.56
Driggers will arrive in Knoxville with sophomore standing. He will join incoming freshmen Joaquin Vargas, Martin Espernberger, Garret Green and Nick Simons at Rocky Top as well.
The Vols are coming off one of the most successful seasons in recent program history. The team earned its highest finish at the SEC Championships since 2001 and earned one gold, five silver and four bronze medals.
