Destin Lasco, Isabelle Stadden Named Pac-12 Swimmers of the Month

California’s Destin Lasco and Isabelle Stadden were named the Pac-12 swimmers of the month for December, the conference announced on Tuesday.

The monthly honors this time did not include a diver.

Lasco, a senior from Linwood, N.J., won three individual races and two relays in the men’s competition at the Minnesota Invitational early in the month. He set NCAA A cuts in the 100 backstroke at 44.28 seconds, the 200 back at 1:38.34 and the 200 individual medley in 1:40.16. The 100 back time is the fastest in the nation this season. The other two are the second-fastest in the nation in those events.

The 2023 World Championships qualifier also was part of the winning 400 medley and 800 freestyle relay squads. It’s his second career Pac-12 swimmer of the month honor, having been named it in December 2022.

Stadden won all four of her individual events in Minnesota. Her wins included in the 200 back in 1:49.21, the fastest time in the country. She also won the 100 back in 50.26, third-fastest in the nation this season. The senior from Blaine, Minn., was on victorious Cal 400 free and 400 medley relays.

Stadden was voted Pac-12 swimmer of the month for the third time in her career, joining consecutive nods in Dec. 2022 and Jan. 2023.

Utah’s Brandon Miller was also nominated for the men’s award, as was teammate Summer Stanfield for the women’s recognition.
