Delta State University Scores Verbal Commitments from Sydney Crawford, Kelsey Farmer

NEW COMMITS: Delta State University has received their first set of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season from Lebanon, Conn. native Sydney Crawford and Kelsey Farmer of Fresno, Texas.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to Delta State University! I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for the support that they have provided me throughout my swimming journey. I would also like to thank all the colleges that have pursued and talked to me these past two years. #gostatesmen”

Crawford does her club swimming with Nutmeg Aquatics and most recently earned five best times at the Connecticut LCM Invitational in March. She finaled in the 200 back at Connecticut Seniors in December and registered five top-15 finishes at the CDOG June Qualifier last long course season.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 25.16
  • 100 free – 53.61
  • 100 back – 1:00.76
  • 200 back – 2:11.33

Also competing for Lyman Hall High School, Crawford finished 17th in the 100 free at the Connecticut Open Championships during her junior season. She also placed second in the 100 free and fifth in the 50 free at the CIAC Class M Championships in 2019.

KELSEY FARMER

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Delta State University!! I am so grateful for my friends, family, and coaches for always supporting me. Go Statesmen and Fighting Okra!”

Farmer, who swims year-round with Swim Houston Aquatics Center, placed fourth in the 200 back, fifth in the 1000 free, and sixth in the 100 back at the Gulf SCY Championships in March. Last summer, she notched five best times at the Bill Nixon Memorial meet before going on to finish fifth in the 200m back and sixth in the 100m back at the Gulf Summer Champs.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 28.87
  • 100 back – 1:00.68
  • 200 back – 2:07.32
  • 200 IM – 2:12.38

Currently a senior at Pearland High School, Farmer is a six-time Texas UIL 6A Region 06 Championship finalist. She placed ninth in the 200 IM and tenth in the 100 back as a junior while taking seventh in both the 100 back and 500 free during her sophomore season.
