Delaney Bookstein Stays In State With Verbal Commitment To Virginia Tech

NEW COMMIT: Virginia Tech has kept in-state product Delaney Bookstein of Dumfries, Virginia, close to home for her college career, as she has verbally committed to the Hokies for the fall of 2024.

She’ll be the second NCAA DI swimmer in her family as her brother swims for Towson.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely excited to finally announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Virginia Tech!! This process would not have been possible without the support from my family, friends, teammates, and coaches. GO HOKIES!!!”

Bookstein trains year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and just competed at NCSA Championships where she earned two best times and finaled in five events. She finished 22nd in both the 200m breast and 400m IM at the TYR Pro Series in Knoxville back in January.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free- 1:49.64
  • 500 free- 4:53.20
  • 1650 free- 17:21.43
  • 100 breast- 1:03.19
  • 200 breast – 2:16.24
  • 200 IM- 2:04.21
  • 400 IM- 4:20.30

Currently a junior at Forest Park High School, Bookstein won the 500 free and took third in the 200 IM at the 2023 Virginia Class 6A State Championships.
