David Curtiss Will Leave NC State Swimming, Still Training for 2024
U.S. National Team member David Curtiss has decided to leave NC State.
The All-American and NCAA relay champion made the announcement on social media on Saturday.
“Recent life has brought to me some tough decisions, many of which have been very difficult. This one being the most challenging; I am leaving NC State Swimming and Diving. NC State has provided me with many positive things, life altering tools that have changed me for the better. The staff taught me how to be a teammate, how to be strong, and how to approach life. Everything this coaching staff has provided for me was a true blessing, and I thank them for that,” David Curtiss posted on Instagram. “To our men’s team, thank you. Thank you for challenging me even though I’m stubborn (@luke_miller_87 ❤️). Thank you for showing me what a true 100% looks like. Thank you for mentoring me in tough times and in good times, teaching me valuable life lessons. I will bring the wisdom and pride of the Wolfpack with me everyday.
“To everyone else, I am not leaving swimming. I am continuing to train for Trials and for Santiago, both of which I am super excited for. I will continue to be present in swimming, and swim to the best of my ability. Thank you all for helping me along with this journey, I’m excited to see what comes next.”
David Curtiss was a member of the NCAA champion 200 medley relay last season for the Wolfpack. He was a five-time All-American at NC State. He set the American high school record in the 50-yard freestyle.
