Daniel Diehl Takes Nearly Two Seconds Off 13-14 NAG Record in 200 Freestyle

14-year-old Daniel Diehl from the Cumberland YMCA in Maryland smashed the 200 freestyle national age group record in short course yards with a 1:36.75. The swim passed Destin Lasco on the all-time list, who held the former NAG record at 1:38.24. Diehl’s best time was a 1:40.01 that he swam earlier this year in March as he sat 25th all-time in the 13-14 age group.
In the process, he passed some pretty big names including three-time Olympian Ian Crocker and US national champ Maxime Rooney, as well as Lasco, who is currently a freshman at Cal.
