Dan Wallace Caps Off a Great Weekend in Orlando

Gator Swim Club’s Dan Wallace turned in an impressive weekend. Wallace swam the championship final in the 200 Freestyle, 400 IM, 200 IM. 200 Butterfly and 200 Breaststroke.

Wallace achieved the Olympic Trial time this weekend in the 400 IM, 200 IM, 200 Breaststroke, and 200 Butterfly. Achieving both the 200 Butterfly and 200 Breaststroke tonight at Orlando Sectionals day four finals.

Gator Swim Club one two’d the men’s 200 meter breaststroke. Dan Wallace won the event in a time of 2:15.32 and teammate Nicholas D’Innocenzo stopped the clock at 2:17.78. Jared Pike got third in the event in a time of 2:20.04.

In the men’s 200 fly David Knight of Club Seminole and Jonathan Gomez of Scarlet Aquatics raced to the finish. Knight won the event in a time of 2:00.08 with Gomez finishing second in a time of 2:00.48. Dan Wallace finished third in a time of 2:01.73.

In the women’s 800-meter free the top finishes mirrored that of Thursday’s 1500-meter free. Ariel S Finke won the race in a time of 8:41.57 and sister Autumn Finke finished in second in a time of 8:49.43. Finishing in third was Jessica Thielmann in a time of 8:52.12.

Robert Finke won his second distance event this weekend with a win in the men’s 1500m. Finke claimed first with a time of 15:46.55 holding a solid 1:03 pace to finish ahead of Blake Mangainello, who swam a 15:51.05 to take second, and Calvin Bryant, who swam a 15:59.39 to take third.

Taylor Katz was on a mission to win in the women’s 200 Fly beating the field by over two second. Katz swam a 2:13.17 to win the event and Nancy Hu representing Sarasota YMCA swam a 2:15.21 to take home second, and Carley Lowe swam a 2:16.22 to round out the top three.

In the women’s 100 freestyle, it was all Natalie Hinds, who swam a 55.98 to win the event. Natalie’s first 50 was 26.73 and she took it home in 29.25; the next closest finisher was Haley Molden who went 57.11. Finishing third was Erika Erndl swimming a time of 57.20.

Caeleb Dressel came back after winning the 50 freestyle yesterday to win the men’s 100 freestyle, and win by a long shot. Dressel swam a 49.50, second place was Jason McCormick representing Club Seminole who went 51.26. Emir Muratovic took home third in a time of 51.34.

Gator Swim Club’s Hrafnhildur Luthersdottir, made the 2016 Olympic Trial Cut 2:34.99 look slow we she glided in at 2:27.48. Luthersdottir won the event and Emily Kopas finished in second in a time of 2:34.79. Rachel Stoddard representing Scarlet Aquatics took third in a time of 2:36.53.

In the final women’s individual event of the evening Matea Samardzic won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:11.47. Finishing in second was Ashlee Linn in a time of 2:12.14. Third place was Elizabeth Beisel in a time of 2:12.41.

The final event for the men the men’s 200 Backstroke Corey Main stormed in to the wall at 2:00.21. Main beat second place teammate Sebastien Rousseau by over 2.5 seconds. Rousseau swam a 2:02.82, and Austin Katz finished third in a time of 2:03.46.
