CSUN Eliminates Four Men’s Sports

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Facing an $800,000 athletic budget crisis and a mandate to implement gender-equity regulations in 1998, Cal State-Northridge eliminated four men’s sports, effective immediately. The Matadors’ baseball, volleyball, soccer and swimming and diving programs were dropped. CSUN will honor scholarships for one year for those student-athletes affected by the cuts.
