Crow Canyon’s Jessica Davis Verbally Commits to Cal’s Class of 2025
NEW COMMIT: Backstroker Jessica Davis of Lafayette, Calif. has opted to remain in-state for her college career and has given her verbal commitment to the Golden Bears for the fall of 2021.
Davis does her club swimming with Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks and owns the U.S. Open cut in the 100 back with the Summer Nationals standard in the 200 back. She raced both backstroke events at Juniors this past summer after finishing 29th in the 200m back at Phillips 66 Nationals. Last winter, she earned three best times at Juniors West before going on to win the 100/200 back combo at Far Westerns.
A current junior at Carondelet High School, Davis is a four-time CIF North Coast Section Championship finalist. The NISCA All-American placed eighth in the 100 back at the CIF State Championships during her sophomore season after taking sixth in the event as a freshman.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at UC Berkeley! Thank you so much to my family, teammates and coaches for supporting me. GO BEARS!!”
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 25.86
- 100 back – 54.53
- 200 back – 1:59.04
Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go, Davis will add valuable depth to a long history of Golden Bear backstroke success. She has consistently dropped time each season, shaving off three seconds in the 100 back and four seconds in the 200 back over the past two years. She would’ve placed in the C-final of both backstroke events at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships and will join Mia Kragh and McKenna Stone as a member of Cal’s class of 2025.
