Colorado HS State Champ Cailen Chinn Verbally Commits to Emory
NEW COMMIT: Cailen Chinn has verbally committed to swim for the defending Division III NCAA Champions, the Emory University Eagles, beginning next fall. Chinn is from Lafayette, Colorado and swims for the North Jeffco Hurricanes for Coach Brett Stoyell.
A Speedo Sectionals finalist in 2016 and 2017, she’s primarily a freestyler and backstoker. All of Chinn’s lifetime best times in her top events were swum last spring. Her best times include:
- 100 Back 57.68
- 200 Back 2:07.11
- 50 Free 24.51
- 100 Free 51.91
- 200 Free 1:53.13
Chinn is a senior at Fairview High School. She’s a NISCA All-American and a three year high school state finalist. She is also a member of the 2016 Colorado 5A State Championship team.
At last year’s UAA Conference Championships Chinn would have finished seventh in the 100 back, eighth in the 100 free, tenth in the 200 free, and 13th in the 200 back. No matter which three events Jon Howell and his coaching staff choose for Chinn, she should contribute points to the Eagles’ efforts to continue to defend their Conference title.
Chinn said of her decision to join the Eagles,
“I’m beyond happy and humbled to have verbally committed to study and swim at Emory University! I can’t wait to receive a world-class education as well as swim with such an incredible team. Thank you so much to my coaches, teammates, friends, and wonderful family for all your support throughout this process! Go Eagles!!”
