Coast Guard Blue Dolphins’ Kade Younger Verbally Commits to William and Mary
NEW COMMIT: Newport News’ Kade Younger, a senior at Menchville High School, has given his verbal commitment to swim for the College of William and Mary beginning in the 2018-2019 season. A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, Younger swims for Coast Guard Blue Dolphins.
He explained to Swimming World,
“I chose William and Mary because the team atmosphere, coaching staff, and academics are incredible. I knew when I stepped on campus I wanted to be part of the Tribe family.”
Younger’s best stroke is backstroke, but he is fairly versatile and has strong IMs. His top SCY times include:
- 200 Back 1:49.96
- 100 Back 50.45
- 400 IM 3:59.89
- 200 IM 1:53.46
- 500 Free 4:43.87
- 200 Fly 1:52.11
At the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Conference Championships Younger would have finished just a tenth shy of the A final in the 200 back. Ultimately his lifetime best time would have been good for 11th. The team champion Tribe had three men in that A final, though all three will have graduated by Younger’s arrival. Colin Demers (1:49.51) won the B final last year. He’ll be able to train with Younger for two years. In the 100 back Younger would have finished seventh. Demers was sixth last year.
