Clare McGovern Gives Verbal Commitment to South Carolina Gamecocks

NEW COMMIT: Clare McGovern, a freestyler from Landenberg, Pennsylvania, has verbally committed to swim for the University of South Carolina. McGovern swims for Delaware Swim Team and is a senior at Avon Grove High School.
Her best times are:
- 1650 Free 17:21.17
- 1000 Free 10:28.38
- 500 Free 4:59.98
- 200 Free 1:53.45
- 200 Back 2:04.56
Every South Carolina swimmer who raced the 500 freestyle at SECs last year will have graduated by McGovern’s arrival to Columbia next fall. She can join a 200 free group that will likely be led by Edith Lingmann. South Carolina’s 200 backstrokers will still include Emily Cornell.
McGovern told Swimming World,

Also verbally committed to the Gamecocks’ Class of 2022 are Emma Walker, Mari Kraus,Rachel Lee, Nathan Walton, and Garrison Johnson.
McGovern’s club teammate Jake Johnson has committed to Harvard while Heidi Dickson will swim for Seton Hall next fall.
