Cincinnati Bearcats Score First Class of 2026 Verbal from Ben Grottle of SwimAtlanta
NEW COMMIT: The University of Cincinnati has received their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Junior National qualifier Ben Grottle of Milton, Ga.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at the University of Cincinnati! I would like to thank my coaches, family, and friends for supporting me along the way. Go Bearcats!??⚫️”
A talented backstroker and mid-distance freestyler, Grottle does his club swimming with SwimAtlanta and raced two events at Juniors East last December after placing sixth in the 200 free at Georgia Seniors. In Summer 2019, he recorded four best times at Georgia LCM Seniors where he finished fifth in both the 200m back and 1500m free.
His best times include:
- 100 back – 53.14
- 200 back – 1:52.02
- 200 free – 1:42.23
- 500 free – 4:35.88
Currently a junior at Cambridge High School, Grottle competed at the Georgia 6A State Championships during his freshman year. He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
Grottle will add valuable depth to the Bearcats’ lineup when he arrives on campus as a member of the Class of 2026. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 500 free, and is just shy of scoring in many other events, at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships where Cincinnati finished second overall in the team standings.
