CIF 100 Fly State Champion Mia Kragh Verbally Commits to Cal for 2021
NEW COMMIT: The University of Cal, Berkeley has received their second verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from talented sprinter and butterflyer Mia Kragh of San Diego, Calif. who will join McKenna Stone as a member of the Golden Bears’ class of 2025.
Kragh, who owns the Olympic Trials cut in the 100m fly, does her club swimming with Rancho San Dieguito and owns a trio of additional Summer Juniors standards. She earned two best times at Junior Nationals this past summer after racing four events at the Speedo Grand Challenge in May. Last winter, she competed at Juniors West before going on to take silver in the 100 fly at Carlsbad Sectionals.
A current junior at Torrey Pines High School, Kragh won the 100 fly and took sixth in the 50 free during her sophomore season at the CIF State Championships. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is also a four-time CIF San Diego Section 1 Championship finalist.
In SCY, her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.11
- 100 free – 50.08
- 200 free – 1:48.89
- 100 fly – 52.26
In LCM, her best times include:
- 50m free – 27.06
- 100m free – 57.43
- 200m free – 2:04.67
- 100m fly – 1:00.68
Kragh will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she arrives in Berkeley in the fall of 2021 and will find a good training partner in her future classmate Stone. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 100 fly at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships and her best time in that event is already fast enough for a NCAA ‘B’ cut for the 2019-20 season. With 1.5 years to go, she will surely look to drop her times even more coming off a stellar summer season.
