Chris Lindauer Rounds out Notre Dame Staff with Trevor Carroll
New Notre Dame swimming and diving coach Chris Lindauer has hired Trevor Carroll as an assistant to complete his first staff.
Carroll swam for Lindauer at Louisville, then spent four seasons at the University of Pittsburgh as an assistant coach. Carroll is a native of Granger, Ind.
“I’m very thankful to Chris, Juli and the rest of the administration for the opportunity to come home and work for the University of Notre Dame,” Carroll said in a university statement. “Growing up in South Bend it has always been a dream of mine to be a part of this program and my wife and I are thrilled to be joining the Notre Dame family. I’m looking forward to working with the student athletes and helping them reach their full potential in and out of the pool. Go Irish!”
Carroll was a 14-time All-American at Louisville, bridging the Cardinals’ eras from the American Athletic Conference to the Atlantic Coast Conference from 2013-17. A five-time Indiana Senior State Champion, the freestyler was a regular at NCAAs as part of Louisville relays.
Carroll began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Louisville under Arthur Albiero in 2017-18 (with Lindauer on staff). He was hired by Pitt and spent four seasons there, helping Pitt’s men’s team post its first top-five ACC relay finishes in program history and sending two swimmers to NCAAs for the first time since 2002. He helped mentor Blaise Vera and Cooper van der Laan.
“I had the amazing opportunity to coach Trevor as a student-athlete,” Lindauer said. “His work ethic and passion for our sport is evident and his success in and out of the pool is a testament that hard work pays off. Hiring coaches that want to build something special at Notre Dame and dream big is my number one priority and Trevor is that coach. Originally from Granger, Indiana, Trevor is very familiar with Notre Dame and how special it is to represent the Fighting Irish. I’m thrilled to welcome Trevor and Andrea to our Notre Dame family! Go Irish!”
Carroll joins a staff that also includes American record holder Kelsi Dahlia, another connection from Lindauer’s days at Louisville.
