Chinese Women Sweep Golds at Final Meet of 2017 Diving World Series

Team China, who has claimed 37 out of 40 Series titles this season, tops once more the medals table of the ultimate leg of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series 2017 with a grand total of 8 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

China was defeated in the men’s 3m springboard event as well as the men’s 3m synchronised, respectively won by Olympic champions of Great Britain’s Jack Laugher (567.15) and Russian pair Evgenii Kuznetsov / Ilia Zakharov (422.88).

Xie Siyi (CHN) however still secured the second place in the individual 3m (528.50), while teammate Cao Yuan took bronze (500.50).

Diving ace Chen Aisen of China topped the 10m with 569.10 points and was followed very closely by Yang Hao (CHN, 564.50) and Britain’s Thomas Daley (493.80).

In the synchronised version of the latter event, Chinese duet Yang Hao / Chen Aisen proved to be the best technically and scored 477.84 points. Germans Sascha Klein / Patrick Hausding came second (430.68) and Aleksandr Bondar / Viktor Minibaev of Russia third (422.16).

In the women’s competition, China earned the gold in every single events both individual and synchro.

With 378.40 points, Olympic and World champion Shi Tingmao won her pet event – the 3m, while teammate Wang Han took silver (360.80) and Maddison Keeney (AUS, 328.30) was the last one on the podium in Windsor, Canada.

Si Yajie was the best in the 10m in 390.60. Australia’s Melissa Wu bagged the silver medal (384.00) and another Chinese diver – Ren Qian – closed the podium in 360.70.

Qian also won the synchro 10m platform with Si Yajie (336.66), while Chang Yani / Shi Tingmao grabbed the gold at stake in the springboard version of the event.

Wang Han / Li Zheng (3m, 335.10) and Lian Jie / Lian Junjie (CHN) (10m, 344.37) dominated the mixed events.
