Chinese Summer Nationals Day 4: Yu Yiting and Li Guangyuan Shine Again
The final session has been completed at the 2019 Chinese Summer National Championships. This meet was the last opportunity for Chinese swimmers to claim a roster spot for World Championships next month.
Men’s 50 Fly
Cui Jinming beat out the rest of the field finishing in a time of 24.36.
Women’s 50 Fly
Zhang Shishi won gold in a time of 26.85. She was the only swimmer under 27 seconds and was just off her entry time of 26.73.
Men’s 100 Back
Li Guangyuan, who competed in this event at the 2016 Olympics, finished first in a time of 54.52 taking home his second backstroke gold medal this meet. Guangyuan’s season best time of 53.99 from Qingdao in March ranks him 22nd in the world.
Women’s 200 Back
Yang Yifan finished nearly 2 seconds ahead of the rest of the heat earning a gold medal time of 2:13.36. Fu Yuhanhui, the champion in both the 50 and 100 back this meet did not compete in this event.
Men’s 200 IM
Qian Zhiyong touched over a second ahead of the rest of the heat in a time of 2:02.39. Li Chao, the 400 IM gold medalist from earlier this meet, finished third in a time of 2:04.24.
Women’s 200 IM
Yu Yiting earns her fourth gold medal in four days and finished in a season best time of 2:11.93. This time now ranks her 23rd in the world and she becomes the second fastest Chinese swimmer behind Ye Shiwen for this event.
Women’s 400 Free
Zhou Chanzhen, the champion in the 800 and 1500 free earlier this meet, brings home her third gold in a time of 4:17.72.
Men’s 800 Free
Wu Yuhang finished 3 seconds ahead of the rest of the field in a time of 8:07.18. The 1500 gold medal winner Pan Zhanle was out touched in a close battle for second and finished third in a time of 8:10.57.
