Chinese Summer National Day 1: Fu Yuanhui Wins 50 Back
The first finals session has been completed at the Chinese Summer National Swimming Championships in Ganzhou, Jiangxi. This is the last chance for Chinese swimmers to qualify for the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju and claim their spot on the roster. Chinese swimmers are also able to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games at this meet.
Women’s 50 Back
World Championships gold medalist and Olympic medalist, Fu Yuanhui, wins the women’s 50 back in a time of 27.66. This time was .06 off her season best from the FINA Champions Series placing her third in the world. Touching second to Yuanhui was Wang Xueer in a time of 27.96.
Women’s 200 Fly
Zhu Jiaming touched first in a time of 2:09.23, just off her winning time of 2:08.19 from Chinese Nationals in Qingdao last March. She currently stands 15th in the world from her season best back in March.
Men’s 200 Free
Winning the event was Li Guangyuan who touched in a time of 1:50.24. Sun Yang is the top Chinese swimmer in this event holding a time of 1:45.73, but is not competing at this Summer National Championships.
Women’s 100 Free
Touching first in this event was Tang Yuting in a time of 55.79.
Men’s 50 Breast
Shen Hao came out on top in a time of 27.84. Chinese swimmers Zibei Yan, Lizhuo Wang, and Weijia Shi all posted times ahead of Hao during Chinese Nationals in March.
Men’s 50 Back
Hou Yuchen touched first in a time of 26.30. Xu Jiayu, the top Chinese swimmer ranked third in the world for this event, is not competing at this Nationals as he already qualified in Qingdao for World Championships this summer.
Men’s 100 Fly
Winning this event was Yan Yuxiang who touched in a time of 54.10.
Women’s 800 Free
Zhou Chanzhen finished first ahead of the field in a time of 8:43.63. Chinese swimmers Jianjiahe Wang, Bingjie Li, and Wenxin Bi all posted times ahead of Chanzhen at Chinese Nationals back in March.
Women’s 50 Breast
Touching first in this event was Yu Yiting in a time of 31.76.
