Chinese Championships Day 4: Chen Luying Edges Zhang Yufei in Epic 200 Fly
The Chinese Swimming Championships continued with the Day 4 finals and some exciting performances.
The women’s 200 butterfly saw one of the most exciting races of the entire meet.
Claiming gold was Chen Luying, who got to the wall in 2:08.36, just two hundredths of as second ahead of Olympic gold medalist Zhang Yufei (2:08.38). Yu Liyan took the bronze in 2:09.06, while Li Bingjie took fifth in 2:09.79.
The session began with the women’s 50 backstroke. Wan Letian won the gold medal with a swim of 27.95. Chen Jie took the silver at 28.18 and Yu Yiting claimed the bronze at 28.46.
In the men’s 100 free, Pan Zhanle earned the gold medal with a time of 47.60. Ji Xinjie got to the wall in 48.26 for the silver medal, while Wang Haoyu took the bronze in 48.31, holding off Chen Juner (48.52).
The men’s 200 IM saw Zhao Liangzhou earn the gold medal with a performance of 2:01.66. Huang Zhiwei claimed the silver medal in 2:01.80 and Deng Ziqi took the bronze in 2:02.33. Wang Shun scratched the event.
In the men’s 1500 free at the Chinese championships, Fei Liwei won the race in 14:57.47 to earn gold. Zhang Zhanshuo was second in 15:03.97 to earn the silver, while the bronze went to Zhao Heting, who finished in 15:18.59.
The Chinese National Team won the mixed medley relay in 3:42.34 behind Xu Jiayu (52.94), Qin Haiyang (58.23), Zhang Yufei (58.04) and Yang Junxuan (53.13).
