China Wins More Golds on Second Day of World Cup IV
SHANGHAI, CHINA – China’s Ruan Li completed a clean sweep of the women’s butterfly events at the World Cup IV by winning the 50m and 200m events on Wednesday. She won the 100 meters on Tuesday.
Two other Chinese, Xie Yufeng and Zhan Shu, also ended the meeting with three gold medals. Xie won all the men’s medley events while Zhan won the women’s 100m backstroke and 100 and 200 individual medleys.
China won 15 golds on Wednesday to finish the two-day meet with 28.
The only non-Chinese winners on Wednesday were American Chad Carvin, who took the men’s 1,500m freestyle in 15:07.42, and Bela Szabados.
The Hungarian pipped Carvin in the 200 freestyle by 0.47 of a second in 1:46.63 to avenge a defeat by the American in the 400 freestyle the previous day.
