China, Russia Dominate FINA Diving Grand Prix
MOSCOW, Russia, June 4. THE fourth stop of the FINA Diving Grand Prix, held over the weekend in Moscow, featured dominating performances from China and Russia. The two nations combined to capture all eight gold medals, with China accounting for five victories. The Chinese received four gold medals on the female side, making it a sweep for the next Olympic host.
Among the men, Oleg Vikulov was a double-winner, prevailing in the 10-meter platform competition (510.10) and teaming with Konstantin Khanbekov for top honors in the 10-meter platform synchronized event with a score of 438.60. On the three-meter springboard, China's Zhang Xinhua was the winner (472.90) and Russia's Dmitry Sautin and Yury Kunakov won the springboard synchro discipline with a mark of 426.93.
The women's action was highlighted by double triumphs from Li Ting and Wang Hao. Li took first in the three-meter springboard (362.30) and also captured gold in the three-meter springboard synchro event, joining He Zi for a score of 330.00. As for Wang, she was the platform winner with a 429.20 effort and partnered with Kang Li for the synchro platform title (366.82).
