NEW COMMIT: Chicago, Ill. native Jenna Keating has declared her in-state commitment to the University of Illinois and will arrive on campus as a member of the class of 2023.

Primarily a freestyler, Keating does her club swimming with the Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club and most recently raced at the WEST Midseason Challenge where she took third in the 200 free. She recorded a lifetime bests at NCSAs to conclude her summer season after placing in the top-25 in the 800m free and 1500m free at the Illinois LCM Senior Championships. Keating finaled in a pair of events at Pleasant Prairie Speedo Sectionals last March and also represented Saint Ignatius College Prep at the Illinois State Championships during her sophomore and junior seasons.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois. I instantly felt at home with the team and coaching staff which helped make my decision so easy. I would like to thank my coaches, parents, friends and family for supporting me. Go Illini!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 53.57
  • 200 free – 1:52.82
  • 500 free – 5:08.42
  • 1000 free – 10:44.64

When she suits up for the Fighting Illini this upcoming fall, Keating will add her backstroke talents to a group that includes Kristin Anderson and Monica Guyette. Although she currently sits outside of scoring range at the Big Ten Championships, she has continuously made improvements each season.
