Charlotte UltraSwim Meet – Day 3
Tom Malchow achieved one of his top three goals for the year when he finally broke the 200 Butterfly record he has been close to several times in the last year and a half. Today he got it at the Charlotte UltraSwim Challenge Meet. Malchow completed the distance in 1:55.18 to break Denis Pankratov's record of 1:55.22 by .04. His nearest competitor, Andrew Livingston was over six seconds back in 2:01.61. Malchow splits were: 26.54 55.53 1:24.93.
Now lets hope Malchow can achieve his other two goals of making the US Olympic team and taking home the gold medal in Sydney.
Other event winners included Maddy Crippen in the 200 Fly at 2:15.40. In the 50 Free BJ Bedford (25.75) and Brendon Dedekind (22.76) came out victorious. 100 Back champions were Lea Maurer (1:01.69) and Neil Walker (56.09).Kristy Kowal (2:25.84) and Elvin Chia (2:17.72) took the 200 Breaststroke events.
Cristina Teuscher (4:14.44) and Tom Dolan (3:52.03) took the final event of the day – the 400 Free.
