RACE VIDEO: Charlotte Hook Breaks 13-14 NAG Record With 1:55 200 Fly
14-year-old Charlotte Hook blasted the 13-14 NAG record in the 200 fly on the final night of the 2018 Speedo Winter Junior Nationals East Championships. Earlier in the night, Alex and Gretchen Walsh narrowly missed breaking NAG records of their own in the 200 breast and 100 free respectively. Hook finally broke a NAG record on Saturday night in Greensboro after two misses earlier in the night.
Hook dropped almost a full second off her best time in the 200 fly as she swam a 1:55.67, lowering the record from a 1:56.01 that was held by Katie Crom from earlier this year. Coming into the day, Hook’s best was a 1:56.62 from March 2018, and she was 6th all-time in the event. She swims at the same club team as Claire Curzan, who won the 100 fly and 200 back this weekend.
Hook passed some legendary names on the all-time list that include 1984 Olympic Champion Mary T. Meagher and current USA National team member Regan Smith. She also passed Dynamo Swim Club’s Tristen Ulett, who was seventh in the race tonight.
Hook won the final holding off a late charge from 15-year-old Grace Sheble (1:56.25) and South Florida’s Mary Smutny (1:56.69). Sheble’s time is not a best time as the 400 IM champ was a 1:55.82 in March this year.
Megan Deuel (1:57.96), Kelly Pash (1:58.27), Gabi Albiero (1:58.30) and Rachel Klinker (1:59.85) also swam in the A-Final.

Don’t call itt 200 fly, it is 183 fly, very misleading.
Katie Crom from MVN actually held that record, this year
1:56.00
Thank you. For some reason USA Swimming did not have that swim on their top times list.
Wow, awesome Charlotte H. ??
GREAT JOB CHARLOTTE, We are all proud of you.
