Chandler Lipp Will Remain In State With Verbal Commitment to Purdue Boilermakers

NEW COMMIT: Fort Wayne, Ind. native Chandler Lipp has opted to remain in-state for his college career after verbally committing to Purdue University for the fall of 2021.

He will join Ryan Zerpa, Luke Fortner, Idris Muhammad, Brady Samuels and Lance Lesage as a member of the Boilermakers’ class of 2025.

He told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commit to continue my academic and swimming career at Purdue University. Thank you to my parents, family, coaches, and teammates who helped me get to this point. I can’t wait to be a Boilermaker! #boilerup”

Lipp does his club swimming with Fort Wayne Swim Team and most recently earned six victories at the VSC Valo Invite earlier this month. In summer 2019, he recorded six best times at Indiana LCM Seniors before going on to place 23rd in the 50m back at the NCSA Championships.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.07
  • 100 free – 46.69
  • 200 free – 1:44.94
  • 500 free – 4:41.28
  • 100 back – 52.83
  • 1000 free – 9:46.01
  • 200 back – 1:56.71

Also competing for Fort Wayne Carroll High School, Lipp led off his team’s 4×50 medley relay at the Indiana State Championships where he also competed in the 100 free. The week prior, he recorded two best times at the IHSAA Fort Wayne Sectional Championships.

Under head coach Dan Ross, Purdue finished seventh in the team standings at the 2020 Big Ten Championships.
