The Florida Gators’ men’s swim team has a big gap in its squad in breaststroke, but will fill that gap starting next fall with the addition of Chandler Bray to the squad.
Bray has two Olympic Trials qualifying times in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, with times of 1:01.79 and 2:14.13. On the surface, it looks like he’s a better long course swimmer, with best times of 54.45 and 2:00.46 in the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes to his credit. His 100 breast time was swum at the Indiana state high school championships, where he won the race to rank seventh nationally among high school swimmers.
As is the case with most breaststrokers, he also has talents in the 200 IM, with a 1:49.34 best time in the short course yards version of the event. He swam that time at the Indiana state meet.
Bray was a member of this summer’s world junior championship team for USA Swimming, placing sixth with a 2:15.00.
Bray attends Avon High School and represents Avon Community Swim Team.
