If you wish to register for these additional courses, please note in the appropriate space on the clinic registration form and include payment payable to Central States Swim Clinic. These courses may be attended separately or in conjunction with the clinic.

*Working Successfully with Parents (May 19th: 1:00-5:00pm) $50.00
This class focuses on three parent types and how the coach can build support with them or in some cases protect him or herself from the few who think they know how to coach their child better than you. This is a very practical class where you can share your own difficult situations followed by discussion of how things could end positively, or at least more securely. Taught by Guy Edson who has made just about every mistake one can make with parents. Manual Provided. (10 education credits)

*Writing Workouts for Age Groupers (May 19th: 6:00-8:30pm) $50.00
Age Groupers are not little seniors, workout objectives and season planning are not the same. Too often coaches don’t even have written plans for age groupers. This course studies the primary objectives for an age group team and shows how to create seasonal and weekly plans for accomplishing your objectives. If you want to be more organized and succeed by plan (rather than by accident) then this will be a good course for you. This course is also appropriate for high school swimmers. Taught by Guy Edson who is on the deck everyday working with an age group team using a written plan. Manual Provided. (10 education credits)

*The Stroke School (May 20th: 8:30am-5pm) $75.00
The Level 2 Stroke School is about creating strokes and correcting strokes. The emphasis is on basic progressions and teaching methods for developmental swimmers aged 6 years old through 9th graders with lots of video clips of real developing swimmers. We also discuss the current trends in world class swimming today. In addition to the four strokes we will cover starts, turns and finishes. Taught by Guy Edson who has worked with nationally ranked swimmers and is currently coaching a developmental group. Manual Provided. Level 2 Certification available for ASCA Members. (12 education credits)

*Coaching at a Swim Meet (May 20th: 6:30-7:45pm) $40.00
For a good meet experience for coaches, athletes and parents here is a short course on what to do before the meet, during the meet and after the meet. The class is about organization, goal setting, motivation, accountability, practical issues like warming up and warming down, how to talk to your swimmers before and after events and post meet evaluations and resolutions. It doesn’t matter if it’s an “ordinary” high school dual meet, a club meet or a higher level championship. Taught by Guy Edson whose teams have won state age group championships in NY, IL and MN. (5 education credits)

**USA Club Leadership/Business Management (May 19th & 20th: 6:30-9:00pm) $20.00
Required for all new USA clubs for club registration Course 201. Club coaches and board members will learn strategies to improve club governance, management, and leadership. Included are the basic models for swim teams, responsibilities of nonprofit boards, staff/board responsibilities, roles of the Head Coach, governance versus management, financial development, recruiting volunteers, evaluation, and assessment. Attendance at both sessions is required to fulfill the requirement. Either the Board/Booster Club president or Head Coach must attend (both are encouraged). This is required for new clubs, but all are welcome.
