Caspar Corbeau Emerges Victorious From Duel With Training Partner Arno Kamminga In Rotterdam

Caspar Corbeau prevailed in a duel with training partner Arno Kamminga in the men’s 200m breaststroke on the second day of the Rotterdam Qualification Meet.

The pair – coached by Mark Faber at the High Performance Centre Amsterdam – were locked in their own private battle by halfway with Corbeau holding a 0.30 lead.

The Olympic silver medallist reduced that to 0.15 at the 150 only for Corbeau to pull away once more and touch in 2:07.99 to Kamminga’s 2:08.30.

Luka Mladenovic completed the podium in 2:11.99.

Corbeau and Kamminga’s training mate Tes Schouten won the women’s race, the world bronze medallist leading from start to finish in 2:24.35.

Angharad Evans was clear in second throughout (2:26.84) with Spain’s Nayara Pineda Lopez completing the podium in 2:27.62.

A 27.48 second 50 saw Nyls Korstanje pull away from the field and claim the 100 fly title in 51.38.

Ed Mildred came from fourth at halfway to second in 52.07 with Bath Performance Centre training mate Jacob Peters third home in 52.38.

Louise Hansson won the women’s 100 fly in 57.43 with Barbora Seemanova added silver to her 200 free gold in 57.75 ahead of Marrit Steenbergen (58.92).

Kylie Masse added the 50 back to her 200 gold, the 2022 world champion stopping the clock in 27.59.

Canadian teammate Ingrid Wilm took silver in 27.92 with world bronze medallist Lauren Cox third in 28.14.

Jonathan Adam won the men’s event in 25.15, 0.07 ahead of Bath Performance Centre teammate Cameron Brooker (25.22) with Conor Ferguson of Loughborough University third in 25.30.

Elsewhere in Rotterdam, Daniel Wiffen was the only man inside 15mins as he won the 1500 free in 14:48 while a final 50 of 29.87 propelled Angela Martinez Guillen past Fleur Lewis and into the wall in 16:17.63 with the British swimmer clocking 16:18.23 int he women’s race.

Spain’s Emma Carrasco Cadens won the 400IM by almost six seconds in 4:42.17 with Charlie Hutchison of Loughborough University taking the men’s title in 4:18.35.
