NEW COMMIT: Libertyville, Ill. native and Futures qualifier Casey Craffey has handed Northern Arizona University their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2021.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to be able to make an impact and be able to swim on the NAU Swim team!”

Craffey does her club swimming with Cats Aquatic Team and placed seventh in the 500 free and 11th in the 200 free at Illinois Seniors in March. Last summer, she recorded four best times at Illinois LCM Seniors where her highest finish was a 10th-place showing in the 400m free.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 52.42
  • 200 free – 1:49.68
  • 500 free – 4:55.31
  • 1650 free – 17:23.97
  • 100 fly – 57.78
  • 100 back – 58.27
  • 200 back – 2:03.99

Also competing for Vernon Hills High School, Craffey is a four-time Illinois State Championship finalist. She placed seventh in the 500 free and ninth in the 200 free as a junior while taking 12th in that latter event during her sophomore season.

Craffey will make an immediate impact in the mid-distance freestyle events when she suits up for the Lumberjacks as a member of the class of 2025. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 free and 500 free as well as placed in the top-16 of the mile at the 2020 WAC Championships where NAU won their seventh-straight team title.
