Carson Foster Swims 4:15 400 IM in Texas-TCU Long Course Meet
After Texas crushed Big-12 rival TCU in a traditional short course dual meet Friday, the Longhorns and Horned Frogs returned to the pool Saturday to compete in some long course racing. The top performance came from versatile sophomore Carson Foster swimming a 4:15.46 in the 400 IM.
Foster, has been on fire all year after recording the fastest time in the world in 2021 in late July, and he returned after his 400 IM to team with Drew Kibler, Coby Carrozza and Luke Hobson to swim a 7:14.37 in the 800 freestyle relay, breaking Texas’ pool record by more than 10 seconds.
Elsewhere, impressive breaststroker Caspar Corbeau swam a 1:00.85 in the 100 breast before recording a 1:00.27 400 medley relay split.

One pool record fell and another was threatened during No. 1 Texas Men’s Swimming’s long course time trials at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the second day of two-day dual meet against TCU.
The Longhorns closed out the second session of competition by crushing the 800 long course free relay as senior Drew Kibler, sophomore Coby Carrozza, freshman Luke Hobson and sophomore Carson Foster registered a time of 7:14.37, blowing past the previous mark of 7:24.64.
In the race prior, senior Cameron Auchinachie, junior Caspar Corbeau, junior Cole Crane and senior Daniel Krueger clocked 3:39.89 in the 400 LC medley relay, just shy of the record of 3:39.26.
On the day, Texas posted the top time in the seven of the nine time trials in which both the Longhorns and Horned Frogs had swimmers competing.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Texas opened the morning in the long course time trials claiming first in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:18.21 from junior Peter Larson and seniors Auchinachie, Kibler and Krueger.
- Junior Cole Crane registered the fastest 100 LC fly with a time of 54.76.
- Texas recorded the top three times in the 100 LC breaststroke, paced by Corbeau’s 1:00.85. He was followed by freshman Adam Fusti-Molnar (1:03.48) and senior Braden Vines (1:03.53).
- Senior Andrew Koustik (2:02.90) and sophomore Armando Vegas (2:03.74) finished 1-2 in the 200 LC fly.
