Carondelet Downs National High School Relay Record; Chelsea Chenault Sets Independent School Record
SAN RAMON, California, May 21. AT the CIF North Coast Section Championships, Carondelet lowered its own national high school record in the girls 200-yard medley relay. Meanwhile, Chelsea Chenault downed the national independent high school record in the girls 200-yard free.
The foursome of Madison White, Allison Gargalikis, Christina Ray and Chelsea Chenault put together a sterling time of 1:40.73. That swim beat the quartet's independent school record of 1:40.80 set a year ago.
Carmel's time of 1:41.42 from this February remains in the books at the national public school standard.
Amador Valley's Catherine Breed stopped the clock in 1:44.61 in the women's 200 free for the win. Chenault, however, took second in a time of 1:45.12. Breed attends a public school, and did not beat Dagny Knutson's overall and public school record of 1:42.81. Chenault's second-place 1:45.12 eclipsed Kate Ziegler's national independent school record of 1:45.49 set for Bishop O'Connell in 2006.
