Caroline Schultz has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Kansas. The Jayhawks have been on a roll early this fall. On the recruiting trail, they’ve picked up verbal commitments from Lauryn Parrish and Ellie Flanagan. This weekend, the team swept the podium at the inaugural CSCAA Open Water Nationals.
Schultz best events are the 100 and 200 butterfly and freestyles. In the 100 butterfly she has a Winter Juniors cut of 55.53, while her best 200 is a 2:04.41. The high school senior has also been 51.68 and 1:51.22 in the 100 and 200 freestyle. She was a member of the historic Carmel state championship team last winter, picking up a fourth place finish in the 100 butterfly (55.86).
Parrish also hails from Indiana. Her focus events are the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke. Parrish has the upper hand in the 200 freestyle, bringing a 1:47.64 with her to Lawrence.
Flanagan, a Missouri native, should give Schultz a good training partner, as she is just faster in the 200 butterfly while Schultz leads the way in the 100.
Schultz should score in the Big 12 Conference Championship. Last season, she would have been an A finalist in the 100 butterfly and in the B final of the 100 and 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly.
Tonight, her Carmel teammate Morgan Grout gave her verbal commitment to the University of Iowa.
