Carli Cronk Wins Twice as Notre Dame Handles Miami Ohio

Freshman Carli Cronk won two races as Notre Dame handled Miami (Ohio), 180-82, in a nonleague meet on Friday.

Cronk went 1:50.49 to take the win in the 200 freestyle. She went 4:58.39 to add a victory in the 500.

The Irish won 10 of 14 events. Jess Geriane, Hollie Widdows and Madelyn Christmas were on both victorious relays. Geriane won the 100 backstroke, with Christman third, before she won the 200 back. Widdows claimed the 50 free. Geriane was also second in the 100 free, while Widdows was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly.

Notre Dame started with a 1-2-3 in the 1,000 free, led by Maggie Graves. Cronk made it two distance wins in the 500; second to her was Virginia transfer Lainey Mullins, who won the 200 fly. Rene Gillilan won the 100 fly and was second in the 200.

Natalie Gilson turned in a great performance to lead the Redhawks. She went 51.44 to win the 100 free, edging Geriane. She also won the 100 breast in 1:04.79. Miami swept the breaststroke events, freshman Zofia Janaszek-Seydlitz winning the 200, and Kaylin Herbet won the 200 individual medley.
